As Kenny Chesney wisely said, “Southern girls are God's gift to the entire male population." There's something about the way them belles dress that make men--Northerners and Southerners alike--howl. Women from all over the world can't wait for excuses to wear those elaborate dresses and huge decorated hats. Which is why, we suspect, so many beautiful ladies flock each year to the Kentucky Derby.
Saturday marked the 137th running of "The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports." The race lived up to its nickname as 20-1 underdog Animal Kingdom won the rose blanket, while Nehro took second and the best named horse ever, Mucho Macho Man, came in third. Women made history as Rosie Napravnik became only the sixth female jockey ever to compete in the Run for The Roses. While all eyes were on her at Churchhill Downs as she rode Pants On Fire, trying to become the first woman to win the event, our eyes were scanning the crowd for beautiful ladies in huge hats.
