If MTV reality shows were "The Outsiders," "Jersey Shore" would be the Greasers and "The Hills" would be their preppy rivals the Socs. Put in that light, you'd expect the cast of "Jersey Shore" to have tattoos and "The Hills" cast to have none. However, this is a different time, and wealthy kids from Los Angeles have just as much ink as those blue-collar types from New Jersey.
Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge, Kristin Cavallari, Holly Montag, Stephanie Pratt and, of course, Brody Jenner all have tattoos. A few of them have even received considerable press. So far Spencer Pratt, Whitney Port, Lo Bosworth and Heidi Montag haven't gotten any body art; unless you count Heidi's multiple surgeries "body art."
Lauren Conrad

Conrad knew how to shake things up on "The Hills" and became one of the first cast members to not only get a tattoo, but also to seriously regret it. While dating "Laguna Beach" alum Jason Wahler, Conrad got a ''J'' tattooed on her lower-stomach sexy spot. After they broke up in 2006, she had changed to an ''L.''
When she left "The Hills," Conrad inspired a lot of negative press and gossip. To deal with it, she told Splash News, "[I] realized I had to stop worrying about what other people think. The next day I got a tattoo on my lower back that says 'sticks and stones,' because they may break my bones, but words will never hurt me."
Audrina Patridge
No tramp stamp for this girl. Patridge has a sizable tattoo of an apple with a serpent coiled around it on the back of her neck, representing the forbidden fruit of the Bible. However, Patridge doesn't really play the "forbidden" role very well, what with those nude photos floating around the internet.
Patridge also stirred ink buzz by punking the tabloids with a fake tattoo of Chinese characters that read, "The rice is fried in pork fat." On episode three of Ashton Kutcher's short-lived celebrity prank show "Pop Fiction," Patridge revealed the inner arm tat wasn't real.
Whitney Port
While Port has dabbled in temporary henna tattoos, the "City" star has yet to commit to permanent ink. The photo above is the incontrovertible proof that the hummingbird ankle tattoo she sported last year was of the temporary variety.
Holly Montag
Riding on her sister's long plastic-surgery coattails, Holly spurred a little noise of her own by showing off her tattoo of a Gaelic proverb, which translates to "The value of the well is not known until it goes dry." What? Does that mean we all have to hit bottom before knowing our value?
Kristin Cavallari
"The Hills" cast loves getting lovers' names inked permanently. Well, semi-permanently. Cavallari had "NZ" on the inside of her wrist for then boyfriend Nick Zano, but had it removed with lasers. No word on whether she'll replace it with "JC" for her new fiancé, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.
Cavallari also has a small star tattooed on her foot and a Capricorn symbol on the back of her neck.
Stephanie Pratt

Spencer's younger sister has a small tattoo on her bikini line that could be a bug, or a birthmark? It's hard to tell, and we haven't heard or read anything where Pratt explains it. She's only said in interviews that it's a matching tattoo that she shares with friend and "complete soul mate" Roxy Olin, whom Pratt has known since seventh grade.
Brody Jenner
Spencer Pratt's former BFF certainly takes pride in still being the bad boy of "The Hills," and his tats are proof of that. First, he has a huge one down his left side, which reads, "Jenner" in Old English font. You know, just in case he forgets his name or whatever. He also has two "B"s in Old English on his right wrist and hand, a design on the inside of his wrist and Roman numerals on the inside of his right arm.
But the real fun started when he started dating Canadian pop-punker Avril Lavigne. First, the quirky couple got matching F-bomb tattoos on their rib cages. Then they got matching lightning bolts during a trip to Vegas. Then, finally, we knew it was true love when the couple got tattoos of each other's names. Hopefully this works out for Jenner. Dude reportedly already has a former girlfriend's initials tattooed inside his lip.
