Rob Dyrdek's unparalleled wisdom is knowledge culled from crazy experiences and a career unlike anyone else's. He's done it all and he keeps doing more: Rob's a former professional skateboarder, one of the stars of "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory" (the main star is the Factory), a serial entrepreneur, the founder of Street League, previously the smaller half of "Rob and Big," a filmmaker and a philanthropist dedicated to supporting skateboarding, among other things.
Dyrdek's also an all-around good guy, and very funny. A previous edition of Unparalleled Wisdom, Beavis and Butt-Head's, was filled with dumb jokes and complaints about things that suck. But Dyrdek is a motivator and more self-reflective, so you'll probably find some valuable insight below for your own travels, especially if you're a gal thinking about getting a tattoo. Enjoy the wisdom.
On dating
?"From now on, I will only be dating thoroughbred dime pieces that may have stripped and/or posed nude...but are still good people."
On motivation
"Do work, son!"
On success
"It's on you, how much effort you put into making things happen for yourself. And who knows, you might end up with a place just like this, your very own Fantasy Factory, only yours can be 1,000 times better with stuff you love, like unicorns and miniature camels. Keep working hard and always make your own luck."
On the location of tattoos
"If you got tattoos above your vagina, you're dirty."
On his favorite part of Season One of "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory"
"Making the world's largest skateboard, and riding it with the mayor of L.A., and him saying that L.A. will no longer look down on skateboarding...that was really cool. And being attacked by a shark, and how we somehow made that funny..."
On pets
"My dog has acne...I just pop a whisker zit and the puss shot into my eye. #truestory"
On doubters
"I'm ready to ride. Screw the nonbelievers, I'm ready to ride."
On the Fantasy Factory being compared to the Playboy Mansion
"It's [a fair comparison]--without the overt sexuality. It's a part of pop culture. It's someone's private facility that people have a desire to experience because it's just so ridiculous. The level of people who roll through blows my mind. That's why I got a photo booth, so I could capture it all."
On female company
"Everyone benefits from having beautiful, slutty girls around them, man. Everybody."
On turtles
"I found out that an expert in turtles is a herpetologist. Maybe we talk to the herpy..."
On his relationship with Big
"Since day one, Big Black and I hit it off. Life with him is all-day comedy. I can't wait for everyone to see what we're all about--the world doesn't know what it's in for."
On skateboarding
"Stay inspired! That's the key to life and success in anything. Put yourself in a position where you get up each day and can't wait to get out and skate. When you go to bed, think about the tricks you didn't land, and keep yourself in a place where you just can't wait to get up and try again. The moment you become uninspired, everything becomes half-assed. Your skating, your life, everything you do. Put yourself in a place to STAY inspired."
